​Springfield Supported Housing Program's Mission is to be a person-centered program providing resources towards safe, stable, and affordable housing options while collaborating with community partners on all aspects of housing instability. We offer at-home case management services and work to find permanent housing solutions for our clients.

How to Access
Homelessness Prevention
Scattered Site Shelter model

Shelter Program - We have 20 transitional shelter apartments varying in size. Thirteen of our units are in the town of Springfield, 2 in Chester, 1 in Windsor, and 1 located in Bellows Falls. Each of these units are funded through different agencies. Referrals are unique to each program. 5 Department of Substance Use Units - Referrals to SSHP by Economic Services, Self, or treatment Facility, 5 Department of Corrections - Referrals to SSHP by Probation and Parole of Springfield, 4 General Assistance Pilot - Referrals to SSHP by Economic Services and Reach Up, 7 HOP Units - Referrals to SSHP by Economic Services for those who are currently residing within the motels.

Homelessness Prevention, Housing Assistance
Housing Support & Emergency Housing Vouchers

SSHP provides support for those that are looking for help with housing this includes but not limited to case management services, care coordination, financial assistance, support to complete applications, voucher applications, transitional shelter, hygiene items, available apartment listings, and help connecting with a landlord, as well as any other support to help reduce barriers and increase income. This includes case Management for all those literally homeless residing within the motels located in Southern Windsor and Northern Windham County.

Funding for those whom are literally homeless

Support to those who are eligible for financial assistance through the Office of Economic Opportunity. To be eligible for assistance your household must be below the 50% area median income, show sustainability, and demonstrate that but/if not for this assistance the individual would return to homelessness or continue to be without housing.

Homelessness Prevention
Coordinated Entrty

Assessments for individuals or households who are At- Risk of Homelessness or those that are literally homelessness. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate the needs of the households, provide referrals to other agencies that the household feels is important, and evaluate eligibility for vouchers towards housing.

Housing Assistance
Prevention Services

Our intake specialist is one of the first points of contact for SSHP. The intake specialist is able to provide a list of current available apartments, landlord contact information, and blank applications. The intake specialist will also complete any intake paperwork needed for coordination of services to assist in the households housing needs. Our intake specialists are also focused on prevention methods which include but not limited to assisting individuals with completed housing applications and other resources needed.

Landlord Support
Landlord Contact

Landlord outreach and education is an important component of programs that provide housing navigation and stability services. Landlord liaisons are dedicated to landlord outreach to build relationships and point landlords towards resources and facilitate rental opportunities for households including providing housing navigation and retention support.
