Olders or Disabled Transportation
Eligible riders must be age 60 or over or have an ADA-defined disability. Here are the types of rides they are eligible for listed in order of priority: Three round trip dialysis rides per week or five cancer treatment rides per week, Four round trip medical trips per month, Unlimited Monday-Friday round trips to The Gathering Place and Springfield Adult Day Care, Trips on regularly scheduled congregate meal sites, Trips on regularly scheduled congregate shopping trips, Two round trip social trips per month – can be used for medical trips if necessary
Technical Assistance to Implement ADA & Disability Related Regulations
The Community Access Program offers ADA technical assistance and training to peers, businesses, and state and local governments, helping them understand and comply with accessibility regulations. It provides education on ADA rights and responsibilities and assists with resolving or referring violation complaints. VCIL serves as Vermont’s ADA technical assistance and training provider with funding from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research.
Meals on Wheels (VCIL)
Meals on Wheels provides hot meals to Vermonters under age 60 with chronic conditions or disabilities. This program assures that people who are unable to prepare their own meals and have no one to help with meal preparation get at least one hot meal five days a week. Meals are provided on an emergency, short-term, or long-term basis depending on need.
Vermont Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program
Provides loans of telecommunications equipment to enable low-income Deaf, DeafBlind (as well as deaf and visually impaired), Hard of Hearing, and individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities to communicate by telephone. To qualify, applicants must provide proof that they have a disability requiring adaptive telephone equipment to use the phone service, and income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines for their household size. VTEDP will purchase up to $750 of equipment for qualified individuals and it is theirs till they move out of state or no longer need it.
Children's Integrated Services & Early Intervention
We have a friendly and knowledgeable staff of developmental educators, including a nurse, physical therapist, speech language pathologist, mental health clinician and family support worker for our Children's Integrated Services (CIS) and Early Intervention (EI) programs. These programs are free or covered by insurance and are available for families who have: A child under 3 with suspected or diagnosed medical conditions or developmental delays, A need for family or parenting support, mental health, or preventative nursing services for children under 6.
